About

An uninformed voter is more dangerous than a crooked politician.

The intent of The Palmetto Standard is to join other media outlets to expose the extreme behavior of our state legislators. Even though there is a strong majority of Republicans in the legislative body, they are the most liberal in the country.

Palmetto Standard is an unaffiliated and unfiltered media source covering North and South Carolina,  bringing news, opinion, and politics. Our investigations and research bring stories and issues, all well documented to those who have yet to read or hear about many of them.

We began in 1997 with a little commentary occasionally and followed the Monica Gate story with former President Clinton.  From there, some of our writings were published across the web regularly until about 2001.  After 911, we became an internet news source, and now with the technology available, we’ve been plugging away under various brands since 2007.

Next, we began to cover county commissioner meetings, school board meetings, political forums and functions through the local venues as well as around the county. We were first to bring video coverage to the commissioners meetimgs as well as the school board meetings. We created web sites for the community to be able to share in viewing this meetings, etc and for a while, it brought a little more transparency to bear. Of course, the duly elected became more creative!

The Palmetto Standard intends to join with other media outlets to expose the extreme behavior of our state legislators. Even though there is a strong majority of Republicans in the legislative body, they are the most liberal in the country.

Our representatives have created deadly issues within the justice system, financial institutions, healthcare industries, and transportation. Our highways are some of the worst in the country, and our fuel taxes are atrocious. We have depended on “outside help” long enough, to no avail. Now is the time for us to be active at the polls. Be informed, spread the word, and go vote.

Many people have put these issues aside, and are ready to depend on “them” and trust that “they” will take care of it. However, it’s time we realized that “we” are “them”.

“When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion – when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing – when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors – when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you – when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice – you may know that your society is doomed.” – Ayn Rand
