In today’s society, we hear more and more people and organizations claiming that “it is within my/our rights” to do such and such. And yes, they have a very legitimate point regarding this. For example: Lawyers have rights; Politicians have rights; Judges have rights; School kids have rights; School teachers have rights; Parents have rights; Athletes have rights; Musicians have rights; Minorities have rights; Gays have rights; Insane people have rights; and on and on and on.
But the point that is being so profoundly missed today is that with all these people claiming all sorts of rights, with these rights comes obligation and responsibility. Ah, now, rights do not sound so fun anymore, huh?
Let’s look first at the rights of The President of the United States. For his term, he had rights that prevented lawsuits while he was still in office. But, along comes a corrupt, immoral, impeachable piece of trash, and now the rights have been vanquished. Why? Well, This particular president has shunned and neglected his obligations and responsibilities. After all, he has parsed the legal language with the garbage that even a 3-year-old would see through, and this has cost him, and others who will follow him to the White House for many years to come. This man has shunned all manner in upholding his responsibilities and obligations of his office. And worse, he has steadily been able to take rights from us “plain folk” and tried to burden us with more obligation and responsibility. Remember when he was touting this “volunteerism crap? How can you volunteer for something when you’re more or less being drafted into it? And he’s always feeling our pain. Question: How can a man who can’t even feel his pulse feel my pain? Duh! He can only feel what is good for himself, and has surrounded himself with the same sort of people. If it feels good do it. Yep, that’s the mantra of this administration. To hell with everyone else as long as it enhances his agenda. After all, he does have that right!
On the other side of this coin, along with the “rights of the President of the United States, let’s look at the responsibilities and obligations that make these rights what they should be. It is the obligation and responsibility of the President to lead by example. To stand a cut above the rest in any situation. Do we have that today? Yeah, right! He is obligated by the oath of his high office to tell the truth and to protect this country. Selling technology to China and winking at spies who steal from us is not exactly within his job description. He is so involved in “doing the work of the people”. Oh yea? When did raising illegal campaign cash become the work of the people? Another thing here that would fit into this category is the Kosovo “crisis”, since it cannot be considered as a war just yet. Does the President not have the obligation and responsibility to go to Congress concerning these operations?
Isn’t it funny that when the impeachment process was in progress the administration lived by the polls because the polls contended that we should move on and such other garbage? As something as significant as this crisis we are now facing, you would think that the will of the people would be a great concern. Instead, we have a man who is out of control, shipping our men and women all over the globe, while telling them it is not only their duties but also their obligation and responsibility to keep peace.
We could summarize this by saying that we have a “do as I say and not as I do” President. Yea, you got that right!
