Shelby, NC — The James G. Martin Center For Academic Renewal, first reported back in April about the problems at Cleveland Community College. But it took a little while for the citizens of Cleveland County to become aware of all that was going on. Mainly, that was due to the lack of accurate reporting from the local media. But since that story initially broke, other outlets around the area have picked up the story and began their research, and now, more and more information has begun to be shared with the rest of the people. Since the main focus of the media and the powers who have pretty much controlled the information that was reported or not reported, has suddenly shifted, the other people have stepped up and alerted the public as to what was going on.
The administration from Cleveland Community College, along with a number of the trustees, would have you believe that it’s nothing more than a few disgruntled employees wanting to cause trouble for the college. That’s hardly the case here. As we’ve seen in the past with the Cleveland County School Board, to cut down on public comments and the time allowed, they would have their “ringers” signed up first, to manipulate the time left for others. We’ve seen the same thing at the CCC Board of Trustee meetings, with the “ringers” that are employed by the college, signing up first and manipulating the time, so that those opposed do not receive equal time. Here, we will once again highlight what the James G, Martin Center exposed back in April, so that those late to this event, will understand what is afoot here.

As discussed previously, the trustees allowed President Steve Thornburg to pay a $5000 fine, which has not been paid as of yet.
